Will I get a job after completing a covert surveillance course?
Titan, in association with the Institute of Professional Investigators (IPI) delivers a 5-day RQF Level 4 (Intermediate) course in Covert Surveillance Operations. We deliver the Advanced syllabus with the exclusion of night-time surveillance and OSINT. Our learners will receive an Intermediate qualification despite completing the majority of the Advanced syllabus.
Both Titan and the IPI believe that the Intermediate syllabus does not equip learners with the knowledge they require to represent our training, companies and to deploy on our operational deployments.
When potential learners contact Titan, it isn’t uncommon for them to ask, “Will I get a job at the end of the covert surveillance course?”
The answer is YES. All graduates will be given the opportunity to deploy on operational deployments as a subcontractor when they are enrolled onto Titan’s GROW Student Aftercare Programme. GROW stands for;
The “G” for Group is the main element of the GROW Student Aftercare Programme. This is where graduates are invited to join the Titan Operational Resourcing Group, which has just shy of 300 members who are sole traders/ limited companies. Titan advertises its operational deployments on the resourcing group that require resourcing as do the 300 other members, so it is a busy group with plenty of surveillance work readily available.

The rate of pay is not generally £25 per hour, certainly no less and mileage incurred during an operation is generally chargeable at 40 pence per mile.

The covert surveillance course is delivered from Titan’s Derby office and training facility which is a five-minute walk from Derby Railway Station and costs £1000+VAT. If learners wish to undertake the certification element of the course, then there is a £420 admin fee which is invoiced by the IPI.
If I don’t undertake the certification, will this affect my work potential?
No! The certification process is a learner’s personal decision. Learners who pass the course alone are offered all the same benefits and will have the same opportunities; they just won’t have an industry recognised qualification.
We don’t persuade learners to undertake the certification process as in our opinion it’s not required. Titan’s training is well known within the Private Investigation and Security Industry and to state that you have successfully completed a Titan and IPI course will be enough. No potential employer will ask if you have a surveillance qualification. They will simply ask if you have been professionally surveillance trained.
If a learner doesn’t partake in the certification process, then once they reach the required competency, they will be signed off by one of the instructors. If a learner partakes in the certification process and achieves the required competency, then this then requires to be evidenced in writing. This is evidenced by completing the SfJ workbook which is a serious piece of academic work that requires significant effort from the learner and must have the ability to research, analyse and to articulate their answers.
So, what is a Level 4 RQF?
To put it into perspective, a Level 6 qualification is the equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree that takes 3 or 4 years to complete. A Level 4 qualification could be seen as the completion of the first year of a Bachelor’s Degree which is referred to as FHEQ Level 4’.
