What is the cost to train as a Surveillance Operative?

Titan has been delivering training since 2017. We developed our training programme so that we could future proof meeting operational demand after out growing our current structure. There is nothing worse than clients wanting to instruct surveillance deployments and the resources not being available. So, we developed a five day surveillance course with successful graduates then working for Titan post course on a subcontractor basis. In 2020 we became the preferred surveillance training provider for the Institute of Professional Investigators and now deliver our courses in association with them.

5-Day Basic Surveillance Training Course

The course is an industry recognised qualification and is set as an RQF Level 4. The cost of the course is £1200 inclusive of VAT which is payable to Titan and the admin fee for the RQF Level 4 is £420 which is payable to the Institute of Professional Investigators. The formal qualification does not have to be completed to be able to work for Titan. Approximately 80% of all attendees of Titan’s surveillance course don’t embark on the RQF Level 4 qualification and just attend the course and go on to work for Titan post course. The qualification process is a purely personal decision and whether you embark on it or not, it will not affect your work potential.

Post course, all successful learners are enrolled onto Titan’s GROW Student Aftercare Programme. GROW stands for;

The “G” for Group is the main element of the GROW Student Aftercare Programme. This is where graduates are invited to join the Titan Operational Resourcing Group which has just shy of 300 members who are sole traders/ limited companies. Titan advertises its operational deployments on the resourcing group that require resourcing as do the 300 other members, so it is a busy group with plenty of surveillance work readily available.

The rate of pay is not generally £30 per hour, certainly no less and mileage incurred during an operation is generally chargeable at 40 pence per mile.

The course is delivered from Titan’s Derby office and training facility which is a five minute walk from Derby Railway Station.

Day 4:  Foot, Public Transport & Mobile Surveillance

So, what is a Level 4 RQF qualification?

To put it into perspective, a Level 6 qualification is the equivalent to a Bachelor’s Degree that takes 3 or 4 years to complete. A Level 4 qualification could be seen as the completion of the first year of a Bachelor’s Degree which is referred to as FHEQ Level 4’.
