What is Graphology?
When we are taught to write as children it is evident that we all develop our own style of writing which changes over time. In fact, writing changes in size and shape according to an individual’s likes and dislikes. This uniqueness is like a DNA and can be traced back to an individual or inform you of their personality.
Graphology is the analysis of handwriting to identify the author in document examination and forensic examination cases or can be utilised to not only examines behaviour, but the subconscious or the whys that lie behind actions, providing information that could not be established in any other way or in such a quick time. This makes graphology a very powerful tool. Handwriting analysis is therefore highly effective in a wide variety of practical situations.
Why might you wish to instruct a Graphology instruction?
There are a number of reasons why an individual or business may require the services of a Graphologist.
The most common reasons and are not limited to are;
- A signature on a Will or probate is contested and not thought to be authentic,
- Malicious or hate mail has been received,
- Graffiti or inappropriate writing on a locker,
- On site Health & Safety forms have been fraudulently signed,
- A lease agreement has been altered and signatures forged,
- Signatures on a financial document such as a loan have been forged,
- For recruitment,
- For management selection,
- For personality profiling.
What is required to conduct a Graphology analysis?
In the event that a signature is in question, we will require initially an electronically scanned copy of that signature. We will then require ideally 12 genuine signatures. These signatures can be written 12 times on to a plain piece of paper, or in the event that the person is deceased, then any documents with their signature can be sent a an electronically scanned common. This may be a letter with a signature or official documents such as a passport, driving license or bus pass. Ideally the genuine signatures are required to be written at a similar date to the questioned signature. In some cases, once the Graphologist has observed the scanned copy, we may request the original document if this is available. The cost of this service is £400+VAT (£480) with an approximate lead time of seven days from instruction.
In the event that the Graphologist is instructed to look at a piece of handwriting, then we will require the questioned handwriting to be electronically scanned and emailed to us. We will then require a sample of handwriting from the suspected author or authors to be compared to the questioned handwriting. In some cases, once the Graphologist has observed the scanned copy, we may request the original document if this is available. The cost of this service is £350+VAT (£420) with an approximate lead time of seven days from instruction.
