What does CROP mean and when is it used?

CROP is an acronym for Covert Rural Observation Post. This is a surveillance specialism generally conducted in rural surroundings, however CROP work can be utilised within an urban environment. It is the art of blending into rural surroundings and maintaining covert observations.

Why is CROP Surveillance a specialist skill?

CROP is a Police term, within the Military it’s generally referred to as RURAL. We use former Police and Military CROP operatives who have successfully completed a rigorous pre-selection procedure and successfully passed a 4 week course designed to weed those out who don’t have the desired attributes. They are the experts in rural observation point construction, concealment, covert ingress and egress, night navigation, orientation and able to remain self-sufficient for up to 48 hours.
